Biography
(1874-1941)
Born in Penzance, the son of a bank manager, he is the only Newlyn artist who was born in the area. Harvey studied under Norman Garstin and later went to the Atelier Julien in Paris. Harvey was a painter of figures in landscapes and interior scenes and he developed a particularly informal style.

His interior scenes were painted in a style somewhat similar to that of the Dutch Old Masters, in whom he was particularly interested, and are today seen as some of his best work. His early work is very reminiscent of the work of Stanhope Forbes.
