Biography
Domenico Theotocopuli (b.1541 d.1614), known commonly as El Greco was born in Spain but lived in Venice in his youth where he worked under Titian. El Greco then lived the rest of his life in Spain where he developed his colourful Mannerist style. His exploration of the mannerist style can be highlighted in The Burial of the Count de Orgaz (1586-88). His works explore the use of intense colour and elongation of the human figure.
