b. 1966<br> Francks Deceus was born in Haiti and is now based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of Long Island University and studied printmaking at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. He was profiled in the 1998 issue of the International Review of African American Art as, "one of the leading young modern painters of his generation, whose work depicts a high degree of sensitivity to social issues and his culture."<br> His modernist style of mixed media painting incorporates influences and aesthetic forms from American paintings of the 40's and 50's. His style of work relies on the simplification of forms and use of bold colour to contrast, distort and simplify perspectives of figurative narratives.
