Biography
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Howard Ganz gained an MA in Art History at the Western Reserve University, USA, in 1961. He also studied art at Kent State University and Cleveland Institute of Art.

Ganz has always been inspired by the country, by natural environments away from the visual constructs of civilisation. Emulating and understanding the patterns of nature is the major direction of his work as an artist. During the 1970s he produced an artist’s book which described and illustrated his ideas about organic form. During the 1980s he wrote computer programmes that implemented ideas from his book and created endless varieties of colourful organic designs which were printed on computer printers and exhibited.

For the past eight years he has returned to his love of nature as a painter. His strongest influence is probably from Cezanne, but also Kandinsky, Kokoschka and latterly Hans Hoffmann, Richard Diebenkorn and Wayne Thiebaud.
