Biography
b.1938
Reg Cartwright is an artist and illustrator, mainly of children’s books. His style is distinctive: polished, brightly coloured surfaces are juxtaposed within busy compositions which retain a mosaic-like intricacy. Although often densely packed with different objects and decorative motifs these pictures remain easy to read.

Cartright has won several prestigious awards for illustration and graphics, such as the MSLA. Cartwright’s work often focuses upon the rural life, either on the farm or by the sea. His many depictions of the fishing industry reproduce the naivety of Christopher Wood and the St. Ives school.
