Peter Harrap studied art at the Camberwell College of Arts, Winchester School of Art and Prince of Wales Drawing Studio. He has exhibited at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, Leighton House and The Arts House as well as receiving prizes for his work.

Harrap works from a solid base of drawing and then makes paintings from these drawings. The object of the exercise is not to produce pictorial verisimilitude but rather through the subjects he chooses to paint to create a visual poetry of memory. In the British School he belongs to that line of twentieth century artists which includes Spencer, Freud and Lessore.
