Colin Booth was born in 1951 in Gateshead; he now lives and works in St. Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. In his own words….."In looking for ways in which to make very small, intimate paintings, I began working with irregular-shaped pieces of wood and ply. These have an ‘object’ quality that makes the viewer more aware of the surrounding interior and architectural space. Where my work clearly differs from architecture and the built environment, is in its approach to ‘imperfection’. The paintings are visibly handmade and the trace or ‘handprint’ of the artist is very important to how the finished work is perceived. My work explores this connection between intimacy and the monumental”<br />
