Biography
Sylvia has been painting and exhibiting her work for more than 40 years and still enjoys working with a range of media and subject matter. Most recently she has been painting large and small oil paintings often inspired by Green Island Gardens in Ardleigh, Essex and her own garden. Her mixed media work using acrylic and paper collage has recently been inspired by travels to Japan and European cities as well as subjects closer to home of interiors and landscape. Sometimes more abstract in style the collage work shows a keen desire for experimentation and development. Her connection with Japan has inspired her work while providing opportunities for exhibiting and building a following in that country. She has held three solo exhibitions in Niigata and in 2013 thirty six paintings sold in three days. She exhibits in galleries throughout the UK and in Art Fairs internationally. Through Singulart an online gallery based in Paris and have sold original paintings to clients in Europe and US. Successes in open exhibitions include The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Mall Galleries.
