Celia Washington's oils, mixed media, drawings and prints conjure up a world at once strange, familiar and utterly compelling. A nomadic childhood helped her to develop a strong inner vision, although it was not until she was 19 that her imagination found an outlet through painting.Over the last 25 years she has used her experiences as a long-term outsider to create boldly drawn and evocatively-coloured figurative paintings. Her work like that of many other Scottish painters reflects a deep fascination with poetic and psychological myth and symbolic legend.Celia Washington has already established an international reputation with shows in London, New York and many other countries.
