Biography
Stephen Finer paints the figure, sometimes more than one, but usually a single figure, often just a head. Stephen Finer has painted David Bowie, Iman, Marlene Dietrich, Yehudi Menuhin, Lord Shawcross, to name but a few. His painting of David Bowie is ‘one of the most popular items in the National Portrait Gallery’s contemporary collection’. His paintings are in collections in Britain – The Arts Council, The British Council, Contemporary Art Society and the National Portrait Gallery, Pallant House Gallery, West Sussex and Southport Art Gallery, as well as the prestigious Los Angeles County Museum of Art and in numerous private collections both in Britain and America.
