Nadar, born Gaspard Felix Tournachon in 1820, was a French photographer, caricaturist, and journalist. He is best known for his pioneering work in aerial photography and his portraits of famous figures of his time, including Victor Hugo, Sarah Bernhardt, and Charles Baudelaire. Nadar was also a key figure in the development of the photographic portrait, using his studio to create images that captured the personality and character of his subjects. In addition to his photography, Nadar was a prolific writer and journalist, contributing to a number of publications throughout his career. He was also a political activist, supporting the Paris Commune in 1871. Nadar died in 1910, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most important figures in the history of photography.
