Born in Cheshire in 1970, James Middleton went on to study graphic design and illustration at university in Bristol where he further developed his distinctive style of light-hearted watercolour painting.

His passion for food, love of cooking and desire for all things delicious has led him to create a series of paintings based on a traditional food theme, which he continues to expand on. His humorous characters and quirky style lend themselves well to this theme.

He has travelled extensively with his paintbrush and palette. His cityscapes, including Manhattan, Hong Kong and Paris are ablaze with colour and offer a slightly more vibrant style of painting. The countries of Zimbabwe and Zanzibar and the Provence region of France have also had a great influence. His paintings reflect his time spent in these areas, with large cumbersome figures enjoying a relaxing life in the midday sun. He currently lives in Wiltshire with his wife and two boys.
