Biography
John William Waterhouse RA (b. 1849 d. 1917) was an English painter of the Victorian era. He initially worked in the Academic style and subsequently moved towards the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood's style and subject matter. He is best known for his paintings of women from ancient Greek mythology and Arthurian legend. He is also renowned for his large-scale paintings of Classical mythological subjects.
