Biography
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, known simply as Caravaggio, was an Italian painter active in Rome for most of his artistic life. He was trained in Milan and was mostly active in Rome. During the final four years of his life he lived between Naples, Malta, and Sicily until his death. His short life was reflected in the drama of his works. He was one of the greatest revolutionary figures of European art.
