Biography
Tilly Willis was trained at Somerset College of Art and the Byam Shaw School of Art in London in the 80's. She grew up and still lives in Somerset where she has her studio. Best known for her evocative pictures of Africa, these colourful images, are now familiar through the global publication of cards, prints, calendars and book illustrations. She is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society where she has also exhibited. Her varied subject matter also includes still-life, interiors and landscapes, but she is also an established portrait painter, regularly working to commission. In 2014 Tilly took part in The Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year. She often visits schools to run workshops based on her African art and portraiture, as well as teaching and demonstrating her painting techniques. From her Somerset studio, Tilly regularly exhibits her work during local art festivals as well as exhibiting in galleries throughout the UK.
