Biography
John Constable RA (b. 1776 d. 1837) was an English landscape painter. He was part of the romantic tradition and is best known for revolutionising the landscape painting genre. His pieces often feature Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home which is now known as 'Constable Country'. In 1821, he wrote to his friend John Fisher: 'I should paint my own places best... painting is but another word for feeling'.
