Biography
Henry Matthew Brock was a British artist born in 1875. He was known for his illustrations of classic literature, including works by Charles Dickens and Jane Austen. Brock studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and later became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He worked as an illustrator for various publishers, including Macmillan and Co. and J.M. Dent and Sons. Brock's illustrations were highly detailed and often featured intricate patterns and designs. He was particularly skilled at capturing the clothing and fashion of the Victorian era. Brock's work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He passed away in 1960, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and timeless illustrations.
