Guido Reni (b.1575 d.1642) was an early Baroque painter from Italy. Reni’s work, depicting religious and mythological scenes, involves bright tones and smooth idealised forms. He received commissions from Pope Paul V and Scipione Cardinal Borghese to paint numerous frescoes in chapels. Reni combined baroque flair with classical harmony. His religious compositions made him one of the most well known painters of his time.
