Terry Hagon and a couple of mates went for a cycle ride on Sunday starting 8,000-ft up in the air. Not surprisingly, they found that their journey was downhill all the way. Terry, Michael O'Brien and Robin Mills, members of the Chuting Stars, a group of free-fall parachutists who give displays to raise money for charity, rode out of the back door of a Skyvan aircraft over a military range near Dundee, Scotland. Terry and his bike soon parted company. But both landed safely thanks to parachutes that put the brake on their falls - the bike's parachute was opened by an altimeter-operated release. The bikes of the other two didn't have such happy landings. One plummeted to the ground, the other into the sea. Before setting off on their high ride - left to right: Terry Hagon, Michael O'Brien and Robin Mills. July 1973
