MPX5099992: The De Havilland "Trident" Britain's newest jet airliner, made her maiden flight this morning. John Cunningham, De Havillands chief test pilot was at the controls on the trip lasting an hour and twenty minutes. At one time he reported "flying at ten thousand feet - all's well". Sir Geoffrey De Havilland watched the take off from a car. It is almost 51 years to the day since the president of the company flew the D.H. 1., which had a top speed of 40 mph.
