In its heart, a group of young stars called Orion's Trapeze. To the eye, the nebula appears as a misty patch around the central star of the line of three which form Orion's sword. The central group of stars is the Trapezium cluster and these stars are responsible for producing the nebula. It is the high concentration of dust and gas in this part of the sky which has resulted in the formation of the stars, so the Orion nebula is no random association of bright stars and dusty gas. PIX4618046: Nebulae NGC 1973 - 1975 - 1977 in Orion - The reflection nebulae NGC 1973 - 75 - 77 in Orion - Reflection nebulae located just north of the Great Orion Nebula. This group of nebulous stars is just half a degree north of the much brighter Orion Nebula and has largely been ignored because of it. The group of stars here appear as a single star to the unaided eye, the northernmost 'star' in the sword of Orion. Most of the blue nebulosity is starlight scattered by dust, while some of the stars are sufficiently hot to excite the wisps of hydrogen that linger here and create a distinctive red glow. PIX4664378: Thylacosmilus - Thylacosmilus atrox was a great predator with sword teeth close to marsupials, the size of a jaguar and weighing nearly 100 kilograms, who lived for about 30 million years until three million years ago. About the size of a jaguar, the bizarre looking Pliocene Argentinian marsupial carnivore, Thylacosmilus atrox, is a superb example of the concept of convergent evolution - descendents of unrelated organisms presumably under similar selection pressures “” converging”” on each other in form over time. Its skull looks remarkably like those of placental sabre-toothed cats, to which it was only distantly related. MPX5162442: Testing the keenness.. Every day at the factory of the Wilkinson Sword Company in Cramlington, outside Newcastle, 270 men who make the razor blades shave on duty as part of the production. From the many used blades a number are taken for examination in the laboratory. This is not all. A study is made when someone complains about a poor shave. Here the physiological background is studied. Sometimes the man is not feeling well, other times he might have been having a few late nights, or even a row with his wife. All these things add up to skin condition and whether they get a good shave or not.
