b. 1932
Ken Howard studied at Hornsea College of Art, the Royal College of Art and received the British Council Scholarship to study in Florence. Elected to the RA in 1971 and a member of the NEAC, Howard is represented in many private and public collections.

Howard’s technique is his signature; his subject matter is wide-ranging – from informal studio interiors to urban and rural landscapes. His pictures prove him to be an invisible observer; often his model is portrayed in repose or turned away, and he frequently views streets from unusual angles. The manipulation of light (filtered, dappled or falling in clear-cut shafts over an arrangement) defines the mood of an image in his work.
