Biography
Jean Baptise Camille Corot (b.1796 d.1875) known more commonly as Camille Corot, was a French landscape painter. His work is praised for its technical freedom and clear colours. In 1825 Corot travelled to Italy where he produced many drawings en plein air. Corot favoured mood and atmosphere rather than topographical detail. His approach to landscape painting, in particular his portrayal of light, went on to influence the Impressionists.
