Biography
Giuseppe was apprenticed to Francesco Salviati in Rome from 1535, apparently assisted him in the decoration of a number of facades there, and seems to have taken his name 'Salviati.' The gravitas and sculptural quality of the Roman figural style stayed with him, and are evident in his later work. In the mid-16th century, he lived in Venice and had a network of powerful patrons, eventually including the Doge.
