Biography
Antonio Moro, also known as Anthonis van Dashorst, was a Dutch portrait painter born in Utrecht in 1519. He studied under Jan van Scorel and later moved to Italy to study the works of the great Italian masters. He became a court painter for the Spanish royal family and painted portraits of King Philip II, his family, and other members of the Spanish court. Moro's portraits were known for their realism and attention to detail, capturing the personality and character of his subjects. He also painted religious works and landscapes. Moro's influence can be seen in the works of later Dutch portrait painters such as Rembrandt. He died in Madrid in 1576.
